MMBA Expo report

The Michigan Mountain Biking Association (MMBA) held their annual meeting and expo this past weekend in the Pavilion on the Michigan State campus. The expo was a chance to see some new items from bicycle manufacturers, find some great deals on clearance items from Michigan bike shops, participate in the swap meet, and find out about some new cycling-related vendors.

In addition, Joe Lekovish organized a great booth for MBRA, hosting four riders that call Michigan home: Frankie Andreu (former Euro-pro, current Kenda director sportif), Jake Rytlewski (Kenda), David Williams (Bissell), and Kacey Manderfield (LipSmacker). The event drew quite a crowd as all four were interviewed and shared their experiences racing and plans for the coming season. Kacey’s stories about the disco-party atmosphere of the 6-day races in Europe was especially fun to hear about. Additional details are posted on the MBRA forum.

While it was a mountain bike focused event, there was plenty for road and cyclocross riders to enjoy, too. Keep it in mind for next year!

Clothing order progress

A lot of clothing orders are coming in. We've hit the 10 item minimum for the main items: short sleeve jerseys and bib shorts. Long sleeve jerseys and regular shorts are going slow but we have a few orders placed for each. The skinsuit requests are split between short and long sleeve, but not even10 for the two together.

We'll keep you updated and follow up with people who requested items that have not met the minimum before next weekend.

Clothing Order Details for 2010

We’ve finally got nearly all the details together regarding the team clothing order. The following should answer most questions, but don’t hesitate to ask any other questions you have.

Info below includes:
  • Cost
  • Sizes
  • Order Process
  • Payment options
  • Deadline
  • Minimum orders
  • Design sample

Cost

The list of items we’re ordering and their prices are:

  •     Jersey - short sleeve, $67 each
  •     Jersey - long sleeve, $74 each
  •     Bibshorts, $68 each
  •     Shorts, $68 each
  •     Skinsuit - short sleeve, $89 each
  •     Skinsuit - long sleeve, $89 each

Sizes

There are three ways to figure out what size to order:
  1. The clothing is from Hincapie. If you have worn Hincapie clothes in the last couple of years the same size should work for you.
  2. We have samples for you to try on. Thursday is another try-on session--any time from 6:00-8:00 during the trainer ride at Two Wheel Tango on Jackson Rd. If you can’t make this session and want to try on clothes, let Lucas or Ben know. The weekend of January 16-17 will be the last chance to try on clothes before the sample have to be returned.
  3. The sizing charts for the Hincapie clothing are available online at the following addresses. We will be getting the Race Cut Jersey, Tempo Shorts/bibshorts, and Tempo skinsuit.
Order Process

We will place only one order for the year, so this is the one shot to order clothes for 2010. There is no minimum order you have to place, nor is there a max. Just pick out what you want to get and put in your request online. Make sure to place your order by January 22, 2010 and pay by January 24 so that the final order can be submitted on January 25. If you’re sending a check you’ll need to submit your request and payment earlier than that. After you place your online order request you’ll receive an invoice via email within 24 hours so you can send in your payment. The final club order will be sent out January 25 and then delivery of the clothes will take place in mid-April.

Payment Options

If you would like to pay electronically by credit card or bank account, just select “PayPal” when filling out your order request. You do not need a PayPal account to pay via PayPal as long as you use a credit card. If you want to send a check, select “Check” on the form and we’ll send you an invoice via email for that, too. Remember we need your payment in hand by January 24, so mail checks early!

Deadline

Make sure to place your order by January 22, 2010 and pay by January 24 so that the final order with payment can be submitted to Hincapie Sportswear on January 25. If you’re sending a check you’ll need to submit your request and payment earlier than that so we receive it in time.

Minimum Orders

In order for Hincapie to make any item, we need at least 10 of any item from the club. For example, we need a total of 10+ long sleeve jerseys--the short sleeve jerseys are counted separately. If we don’t reach the minimum for a particular item you choose, you will be contacted and have the option to cancel that item or change the item to something else. Short sleeve jerseys and bib shorts will certainly reach the minimum order, but we’ll notify you if if some of the other items do not reach the minimum.

Design Samples

The final design has not been set, but the professional designers at Hincapie will come up with something based on these examples that we are providing to them.
